A letter to an ex-close companion
Yes, Textpattern, we’re through. You’ve tormented my web publishing process for long enough. You remember that WordPress I was telling you about, well, we’ve been folling around behind your back for months now, and you never saw it coming. It’s a lot better than you’ll ever be, and that’s why I’ll no longer be seeing you. Sure, your remnants will sit around my server space for a little while longer, but only until WP moves in. So get packing, because you’re out of here.
In all seriousness, I’ve finally made an effort to ditch Textpattern, for a few good reasons. I had outlined this some months ago, but it’s finally been done. One thing that was really ticking me off was the fact that Textpattern wouldn’t attach a date to my posts in my RSS feeds, which completely threw off the Random Shapes aggregation system. If that wasn’t enough, there’s no way to fix it. So now that I’ve switched, all seems to be working just fine.
Now back to the fooly cooly:
If that weren’t enough to make any sane blogger leave you, you’ve been messing up my PHP behind my back, and you’re fat. That’s right, I said it, you’re bloated. You have tons of features I don’t need, and even more I don’t want. Drop a couple pounds and learn how to handle code properly, and you may have a chance in the future. But for now, we’re through. Stay out of my way and I’ll stay out of yours.
But before I cut things off, I have one final problem. Why can’t you play nice with others? Do you realize how difficult it is to port a design so it works with your system? And without proper PHP support my Browser Dependant CSS gets jacked up too. You really have a lot to learn, and I hope for your sake, you learn it fast.
With the love of a million missing ALT attributes, I bid you adieu
